Happy New Year everyone! 2010 was a great year for LEDs. Everything from organic LED lights to the increase in LED street lighting programs, the field of LED technology was all abuzz this past year. As we look forward to 2011, we remind you of some eco-friendly, money-saving resolutions you can make by simply using LED flashlights and light bulbs. Enjoy!
1. Use less energy.
Using LED lights is a sure fire way to conserve energy use and reduce your monthly energy bill. LEDs use significantly energy than their incandescent counterparts, and because almost none of the energy being used is wasted as heat, the bulb can burn much brighter for much longer.
2. Choose environmentally-friendly products.
LED bulbs are not only more efficient than incandescent bulbs, but they also are much better for the environment. Many types of traditional lights, including fluorescent bulbs, contain mercury, a very toxic substance. When these types of bulbs end up in a landfill, the mercury toxins can leach into the ground, polluting nearby soil and water.
3. Save more money.
It’s true; high-quality, energy efficient LED flashlights and light bulbs usually have a higher initial cost than their more traditional counterparts. But when you look at the lifespan of the bulbs and the energy they consume, it’s easy to see how LED lights are a much more cost-effective choice.
From all of us here at Coast, we wish you and yours a very happy new year! Have a great 2011 everyone!
