Flashlights: Why Pay More for Less?

A laser company recently manufactured a flashlight that retails at $300. The light is said to be the brightest flashlight in the world, producing around 4,100 lumens. Legend even has it that the instrument has the ability to light fires and scramble eggs.

The light comes with more than its fair share of flaws. Firstly, because of its high light output, its custom battery only lasts for 15 minutes before it needs to be recharged. Additionally, the shaft of the light becomes so hot during use, the user’s manual recommends only holding the flashlight for a maximum of three minutes or it will become too hot to hold.
