Basic Knife Safety

Here at Coast we believe that a good knife is an essential tool for any outdoor enthusiast to possess. But a knife is just that – a tool. And like any tool, it’s important for the owner to know exactly how to safely use it. With that in mind, here are a few tips on basic knife handling safety.

1. Always hold the knife by the handle
This may seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people injure themselves by holding a knife by the blade. Any knife blade can be dangerous, but large hunting knives and skinning knives can be especially troublesome if handled incorrectly.
