LED Lighting wins Emmy

In the 61-year history of the Emmy awards, never has there been an award given for television lighting technology, that is, until now. Litepanels, Inc. will be the first-ever lighting technology company to receive an Emmy award for its work with LED lighting on television sets including shows such as Desperate Housewives, 24, and Without a Trace.

The statue, a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award, will be presented on August 22 in Los Angeles by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for outstanding achievement in technical or engineering development. Specifically, the award represents technologies ”so extensive an improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected the recording or reception of television.”
