Youngsters, grab your fishing gear! The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) invites you to its free youth fishing event on Saturday, May 2 at Reinhart Pond in Grant Pass from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As a part of ODFW’s Youth Angling Enhancement Program, the event is co-sponsored by Crater Bass Club and ODFW, who will provide staff, fishing equipment, and angling instruction. ODFW says they are stocking 600 legal-sized rainbow trout especially for this event.
“This is a great opportunity designed just for kids,” said ODFW biologist Jay Doino. “While we encourage parents to bring their children out to learn or hone angling skills, we ask adults to leave the fish to the next generation for a few days.”
Anglers 13 years of age and younger can fish for free while a juvenile license is required for anglers 14-17 years of age. All fishing regulations apply.
Reinhart Pond is located at Reinhart Volunteer Park in Grants Pass off Lincoln Road.
