I read an informative pair of articles today about appropriate gear and clothing for hiking. Since I recently published a post about fall and winter outdoor opportunities, I thought the connection was aptly timed. So, if you’re getting geared up to venture out into the fall or winter weather, read on for some great tips and advice.
The author, Kalyani Candade, suggests a number of basic things to remember and utilize during a hike. Her first article focuses on the appropriate clothing to wear. She recommends the following:
- Dressing in layers
- Wearing breathable boots and/or shoes with laces
- Carrying some form of head protection from sun and cold
- Bringing sunglasses
- Wearing sun-screen
- Packing lightweight rain gear
Her second piece details some of the essential gear you’ll need for hiking. The list includes:
- Water and container
- Walking stick/trekking poles
- LED Flashlight
- First-Aid kit
