With Earth Day coming up April 22, many people are once again asking themselves, “What can I do to reduce my impact on the environment?” As a manufacturer of energy-efficient LED flashlights, we are committed to creating a greener planet, starting with the everyday items people use at home or in the great outdoors.
1. Take a green camping trip with the family.
There’s no better way to celebrate Earth Day than to reconnect with nature and remind yourself why it’s important to preserve and protect the environment. And since the point of the holiday is to help us become more eco-friendly, make it a green camping trip – “rough it” as much as possible; pack out what you pack in; cook your meals over the fire; and use environmentally sound gear such as LED flashlights and lanterns. This is a great way to pass on eco-friendly values to your kids.
2. Make the switch to LED flashlights.
If you haven’t already, Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to replace each one of your old, battery-hogging incandescent flashlights with an energy-efficient LED flashlight. An LED flashlight will not only reduce your battery usage, but its bulbs can run for thousands of hours before burning out. Make the LED flashlight transition throughout your entire home, from your emergency kit to your outdoor gear.
3. Eliminate disposables where you can.
We live in a disposable society, true, but the time has come to curb our throw-away habit and learn to reuse more. This year, pick at least one disposable item you use – such as disposable dishes for picnics or camping trips – and replace it with a reusable version. This practice reduces waste as well as the demand for new materials, a double benefit.
Happy Earth Day from COAST!
