Hunting and Fishing Licenses Now On Sale

Let’s face it – hunting and fishing enthusiasts aren’t always the easiest people to shop for. If you got your favorite hunter or angler a high-quality hunting or fishing knife last year, chances are he or she still has it and it is in great condition. And while hunting or fishing accessories and LED flashlights all make great gifts too, you can’t keep giving the same few gifts year after year. Luckily for you, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has a perfect solution to your gift-giving woes: hunting and fishing licenses!

A high quality hunting knife makes a great gift, but without a hunting license it is pretty much worthless.

This year, what better way to show you care (and that you’re paying attention) than to give the hunters and anglers in your life 2011 licenses? They went on sale on Dec. 1 and are being sold at most ODFW offices, ODFW license agents, and on the ODFW website.

The ODFW is also offering special discounts on certain types of license packages. The Juvenile Resident Sports Pac is great for younger outdoor enthusiasts (age 12 – 17), allowing them to hunt, fish, crab and clam all year for a mere $55. The adult Sports Pac is being offered for $164.75, which is about $70 less than had you bought each license individually.

Giving a hunting or fishing license, or license package, as a gift is easy. Simply visit any license sales agent or the ODFW website, provide the hunter’s or angler’s full name and date of birth, wrap it up and try not to spoil the surprise! Remember, if you are buying for someone who has never had a license before, you will be required to provide their social security number in compliance with state and federal law.
