Dubai: LED projects abound

“Advanced LEDs Ltd. completes two prestigious projects in Dubai” headlines a recent article in LEDs Magazine. The first: the world’s largest shopping mall. The second: the world’s tallest man-made structure ever built (according to Advanced LEDs).

Boasting more than 1,200 stores, the Dubai Mall plays host to a number of world-class attractions including an aquarium, ice rink, cineplex, and a spectacular water feature that traverses all four levels of the mall. The fashion area of the mall features a catwalk amidst 70 signature shops. Above the catwalk, Advanced LEDs created a stunning focal fixture, lighting huge sails (red, green, blue) using 6.5 kW LED lighting from 76 specially-designed RGBW fittings.

Adjacent the mall, the Burj Dubai Lake Tower Hotel, standing at an astounding 306 meters (1,004 feet), is a “combination of outstanding facilities and superlative attention to detail which help to surround guests with luxury, comfort, and style,” says LEDs magazine.

Advanced LEDs has implemented LED lighting technology to enhance “The Weave,” a sculpture comprised of five shimmering bronze panels that creates drama and elegance in the hotel foyer. A total of 5,200 side-emitting, purpose-designed one-watt LEDs were used to enhance the rich bronze color of the screens.
