To help test out our new line of Coast LED flashlights and headlamps, we asked several of our associates to try them out and write up their thoughts. We’ll be sharing their honest reviews in a series of blog posts to help you decide on your next LED flashlight.
It was the Coast A5 flashlight’s appearance that grabbed me first. It is small, slim and made of stainless steel. I thought it would make a good flashlight to carry in my purse. It’s a little heavy for as small as it is, but I figured the weight is comparable to quality. So far, that has been the case.
I have dropped this LED flashlight several times, and it doesn’t even have a scratch to show for it. The metal clip on the side is convenient and prevents me from losing it. I clip it to the inside pocket of my handbag so it is easily accessible, and so far I haven’t lost it or forgotten to put it back.
The LED light is surprisingly bright (12 lumens) for how small the flashlight is. I didn’t think it was going to be bright enough to use at night, such as for car emergencies, but I used it the other night when my son dropped his DS game under the car, and it put out plenty of light. I think this is the perfect LED flashlight to carry every day. My brother, who is a mechanic, keeps hinting that it would be a great flashlight for work. I definitely am not giving him my A5 flashlight, but he might be getting a Coast A10 flashlight for Christmas.
