Three of the Most Beat Up But Functioning LED Flashlights COAST Has Seen

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

Our LED flashlights are built tough. We design them for reliable use in the harshest professional settings. Where other flashlight manufacturers skimp to save a buck or two, such as on plastic parts, we make sure to choose the durable option that will survive any stress test. For instance, Survival Bros recently put our HP14 flashlight to the test, throwing it down onto rocks and dunking it into water to show its robust performance. We weren’t surprised to hear that the HP14 continued to shine bright throughout this abuse. After all, we include a lifetime guarantee for all of our products against defects in materials and workmanship.

Such antics delight us, as they provide an opportunity to show our dedication to quality construction and design. Here are a few of the most beat up—yet still functioning!—COAST LED flashlights we’ve ever seen.

COAST Featured in ABC News Overnight Now Segment

Thursday, June 20th, 2013

COAST's A22RDick DeBartalo, ABC News Overnight Now’s “Giz Whiz,” recently featured a COAST product as a handy gadget to have around the house. Mr. DeBartolo attended the 2013 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, and selected the Coast A22R rechargeable LED flashlight as one of the top products at the show.

In the ABC television spot, Mr. DeBartalo deftly handles the focusing function for the A22R’s 241-lumen beam. The A22R’s unique charging feature really caught the Giz Wiz’ attention. By sliding open the A22R’s end cap, Mr. DeBartalo reveals the Pro-Tek Charging Port, which is compatible with AC power (from a wall socket), DC power (in a car) and USB (from a computer or phone). What’s more, if none of these power forms are available, the A22R can also be powered via AA battery. “A lotta flashlights can’t do [this],” the Giz Wiz points out.

What To Do With a 2,240-Foot Beam Distance: Uses for the HP314 LED Flashlight

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013

COAST's HP314 LED FlashlightOur newest, longest-distance LED flashlight, the HP314, is capable of throwing light 2,240 feet—that’s nearly half a mile! Already, our Facebook buddies are calling this powerful torch the “throw king.” No doubt, many LED flashlight enthusiasts (“flashaholics,” if you will) would love to get their hands on an HP314 for no other reason than that it can shine so far—the length of seven and a half football fields! Or, another way to think about it, the HP314 can shine length of 22 blue whales laid end-to-end. Yes, those stats are worthy of bragging rights. But how might a person actually use such a long light beam? Here are three circumstances when a long beam distance would come in handy.

Search and Rescue. The farther you can see, the better it is for search and rescue. While looking for victims of natural disasters, police and firefighters prefer a long beam distance that can pick up details from far away. Also, if you’re looking for an LED flashlight to take on your next backpacking trip, the HP314 is a great choice—its incredible beam distance will help rescuers see your emergency signal that much faster.
