I just brought a Damascus knife that is 256Layers of 1092 and 15N20 high carbon tool steels.

Can you tell me in detail if this is junk or a quality choice for hunting and survival?

Thanks

Good information on the history of the Damascus knife.

Something I have noticed in my readings in some of the knife forms is that some knife owners do not realize that washing a knife in a dishwasher will ruin that knife. The dishwasher uses extremely hot water which can swell the handles and distort the springs in the folding parts of the knife.

Any good grade of knives, in fact any knives that have a wooden handle or rivets should never be put in a dishwasher!
